Wizard enters its fourth year in 2010 and we are aiming for the stars with lots of great music and arena acts.

Billed as a “magical” little festival we are based in the heart of the Aberdeenshire countryside, just 30 miles from the city of Aberdeen.

The exact location of the festival is the New Deer Showground, New Deer Aberdeenshire.

Dates for 2010 are August 27th and 28th, we are now an award winning festival–we won the Evening Express Tourism Award-voted by readers of the newspaper because the festival generated an estimated £250,000 extra revenue to the region over the weekend it was held.

Last year we attracted 4000 people over the two days.

Acts confirmed so far this year include Happy Mondays, James, Alabama 3, Pearl and the Puppets and many more to be confirmed.

Music genres are mixed.  Past acts include The Charlatans, Idlewild, Levellers, Supergrass, The Damned, The Undertones, Sandi Thom, , Buzzcocks, Twisted Wheel and Proud Mary.

In 2009 we introduced a dance stage to the festival, organised by award winning Aberdeen club, Snafu.  Slam will headline Saturday night in the dance tent and more DJ's are being announced in the coming weeks.

We estimate an attendance of 6,000 people in 2010.  The festival has the potential to grow to at least 10,000 people.

We pride ourselves on being a family friendly event.  Everyone from babies to grandparents is welcome at Wizard –and that includes everyone in between!

The festival aims to bring a wide range of music and arts to the Aberdeen city and shire whilst also giving young up and coming artists from the North East a platform to perform and gain exposure to wider audiences.

Kids that are aged 12 and under go free

Camping and car parking are free and there are NO extra costs on top of the festival ticket price

Weekend tickets are £70 and Saturday passes are £45…it will cost more on the gate on the day but no decision yet on how much more.

Campsites are in a wonderful setting and car parking is a five minute walk (if that) across a cordoned off road.

There is quiet / family camping located at the rear of the site (but still only five minutes from main arena)

Campervans and caravans are welcome at an extra cost of £20 per vehicle

We pride ourselves in showcasing the best of local up and coming talent and reserve at least 10% of our bill for young up and coming Scottish acts

We have three stages- Main Stage, Snafu (dance stage) and Banshee …we put on over 50 bands and Dj's across the three stages over the two days

We have a separate area dedicated to kids called “wee wizards”…this has a performance tent with dressing up, magic shows, wizards, Gaelic storytelling, music, bucking bronco, climbing wall and games

Arena acts / performers can be anything from spray paint artists to local opera singers and youth theatre acts

We are accessible by rail and bus.  Happy Bus will be running buses to and from the festival from Aberdeen, Peterhead, Ellon & Mintlaw, and also from Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Perth.

The crowd is really diverse and extremely friendly.  Lots of kids, lots of mums and dads, lots of farmers and curious locals….all having a wonderful wizard time.  No police reported incidents since we started in 2007.  100% trouble free record!
